Chhath Puja 2026 is one of the most important festivals in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and several parts of eastern India. To manage the heavy rush of passengers during the festive season, Indian Railways has announced several special trains connecting major cities with Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Chhath Puja 2026 will begin on Friday, November 13, and conclude on Monday, November 16. The main Sandhya Arghya will be performed on Sunday, November 15. Thousands of people travel to their hometowns during this period to celebrate the festival with their families.
Passengers travelling from Delhi, Chandigarh, Firozpur, Rishikesh, Amritsar, Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Assam will have additional festival-season train options towards Bihar and eastern UP.
These special services are particularly useful for migrant workers, students, families and other passengers planning to return home for Chhath Puja.
Before planning your journey, passengers should check the latest train schedule, departure time, arrival time, stoppages and seat availability.
You can check train details through the official Indian Railways website and NTES app. Passengers should also verify whether a particular special train operates on their intended travel date before booking tickets.
Important: The running dates mentioned for these festival specials are limited to the November 10–25 Chhath travel window. Many of these services may also operate during October for Diwali travel.
Chhath Puja is a major travel period, and trains on popular Bihar routes can experience heavy passenger demand. Booking tickets early and checking the latest railway updates can help passengers avoid last-minute travel difficulties.
